Genesis 1,2,3 & Matthew 1

Well, I made it. Day one of the new year and I already nearly messed up on my New Year's resolutions...haha. I want to read through the Bible again this year and I just did my daily reading for today and it's 9:00 p.m. ! Better late than never I guess.

As I mentioned back in November when I set this account up, my intention is to write a little something daily based on my readings in hopes that others will interact with me and possibly join in by reading through the Bible also.

But before I get into the Bible stuff I want to tell you about my weekend. Yesterday I preached at the church I grew up in (University Baptist Church in Middletown, OH). I preached for both morning services and the evening service. It was so great to be back. There are just so many great people there and I really feel "at home" there. It was a stressful day Sunday, but at the same time I really enjoyed it - kind of a neat way to end the year.

I look forward to seeing what God has in store for us this year. A new baby in June!!! And I hope to learn His word a lot more this year, but I'm eager to see what else is in store...anyhoo...

Tonight I read the first three chapters in Genesis and the first chapter of Matthew....good stuff!!! Thinking about how God created the world and humans and our quick nosedive into sin. It's just so interesting. God giving dirt CPR and creating man. God performing the first surgery and creating Eve from Adam's rib. A talking snake/lizard. The first excuses for doing something wrong. The first marriage. God just speaking stuff into existence. Wow...I could go on but my eyelids are getting heavy.

Matthew 1 is cool too - especially since we just saw "The Nativity" movie. It's cool that Matthew is so into proving that Jesus truly was the Messiah that was prophesied about by including the lineage with Abraham and King David. And it's also cool that some messed up people are mentioned in that lineage....cool b/c God can and does use messed up people to bring about awesome things. (If you don't know what I'm talking about pay attention to the women mentioned in the genealogical list)

Well, I should go on, but I'm tired and I'm not sure anyone will be reading so....goodnight.

May we follow Christ more closely this year and fall more in love with Him in the process.
